Actor and film director Richard Attenborough has died at the age of 90.

In a film career spanning seven decades Attenborough starred in films as diverse as The Great Escape, Jurassic Park and Miracle On 34th Street as well directing and producing films including Gandhi, Oh! What A Lovely War and Cry Freedom.

Here are just some of his many acting highlights.

Brighton Rock

Attenborough’s breakthrough role came in this 1947 film noir, adapted from Graham Greene’s novel.

The Great Escape

One of his most iconic roles, Attenborough starred alongside fellow greats Steve McQueen and James Garner as Sqn. Ldr. Roger Bartlett, aka ‘Big X’ in The Great Escape.
